The Small Family CSA farm is located in the Driftless Region of Southwest Wisconsin near La Farge and Viroqua. We are stewards of 21 beautiful ridge-top acres of land.

We offer a 20-week local-food subscription program. Community members subscribe to our farm via a CSA membership to ensure their share in the season’s produce. We primarily grow annual vegetables using organic and biodynamic methods. We take a special interest in the fertility and mineral balancing of our soils. We strive to nourish our soils with as much of a variety of biodegradable composts and manures as possible to, in turn, create a healthy soil that produces nutrient-dense foods.

The Community Supported Agriculture program is a way for folks to have access to farm-fresh and local vegetables every week for 20 weeks. Members pre-pay for their share at the beginning of the season (or in two installments) to let the farmer know that they are committed. Then, we do all of the planning, ordering, growing and all the rest of the dirty work. Members are only responsible for picking up their weekly share of seasonal veggies at one of our 8 drop locations and eating up each week’s contents before the next delivery arrives. The program runs from June thru October.

To mimic a more balanced ecosystem we have broiler chickens, feeder pigsand beef cattle help us to maintain the land. They help us keep the grass munched down and the pastures fertilized. We believe that having a small amount of animals on the farm that have access to fresh grass at all times is an important part of maintaining healthy soils and healthy animals. In the summer and fall we do have broiler chickens and some pork for sale.

We do accept worker-shares and Wisconsin Quest cards as payment for the share.
