As a nation-wide group (with many chapters internationally), the WAPF is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charity founded in 1999 to disseminate the research of nutrition pioneer Weston A. Price, D.D.S. Dr. Price’s research is the primary source of the nutritional information presented by the WAPF, but it is corroborated by the work of many other researchers, physicians, and nutritionists who have dared to break away from the orthodoxy and look for the real facts.
The WAPF is dedicated to restoring real foods to the American diet by supporting accurate nutrition instruction, organic and biodynamic farming, pasture-feeding of livestock, community supported farms, honest and informative labeling, prepared parenting, nurturing therapies, establishment of universal access to clean, certified raw milk and a ban on the use of soy-based infant formula. The local chapter meets on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Home Environment Center, 4484 Dodge St., Dubuque. The meetings are free, fun and open to everyone. If you have never been to a meeting before, you might want to call Jim and Sandy in advance to double-check on the meeting date. The local chapter also sponsors a major speaker on nutrition and wellness eachyear around January. On Saturday, Jan. 26th, 2008, noted nutritionist Kaayla T. Daniel, Ph.D. will speak from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Grandview United Methodist Church in Dubuque. An on-site lunch of local, organic foods will also be available. Call Jim and Sandy for ticket prices and further info. |
